About the project

A climate-friendly residential complex in the heart of Aspern, Vienna's 22nd district, by DWK Die Wohnkompanie GmbH. Eight individually designed freehold apartments combine contemporary architecture with sustainable building technology and nature-oriented outdoor spaces. The project name pays homage to two historical features of Aspern: the stone Lion of Aspern commemorating Napoleon's 1809 defeat in the Battle of Aspern-Essling, and the green aspen tree (Espenlaub) immortalised on the district coat of arms of the former Marchfeld community.

A Home for Families

Each of the eight apartments has been individually planned to combine modern living with sustainable energy concepts and generous outdoor spaces. Sizes range from a compact 39 m² to a spacious 138 m² maisonette penthouse. Two garden apartments on the ground floor, four balcony or garden apartments in the middle, and two top-floor penthouses with galleries cover every life stage – from a first home for a young professional to the family-sized maisonette.

Sustainable by Design

Each building is built in solid concrete and meets the low-energy house standard (HWB 29.1 B / fGEE 0.67 A+). Natural energy sources – geothermal probes, water heat pumps and roof-mounted photovoltaics – supply the buildings, while underfloor heating with cooling capability regulates the indoor climate year round. The development is certified ÖGNI Gold.

Equipment & Atmosphere

Parquet flooring, floor-to-ceiling windows, modern bathrooms, open-plan kitchens and elegant penthouse galleries (with ceiling heights of up to 5.16 m in Top 7 and Top 8) set the tone. Urban gardening areas and bike service points complete the offering. Every apartment has either a private garden, terrace or balcony, and all units are barrier-free.

Location

Asperner Heldenplatz 7, 1220 Vienna (Donaustadt district). Aspern is one of Vienna's fastest-developing neighbourhoods, located between the historic Aspernstraße and the Lobau nature reserve. Schools, kindergartens and a weekly farmers' market on Asperner Siegesplatz are within walking distance. The U2 metro line (Aspernstraße station) together with tram and bus lines provide quick access to the city centre in about 15 minutes.
