About the project

Luxury Estate at Werdertorgasse

A historic Gründerzeit building from Austria's founding epoch is being reimagined as an urban residence in Vienna's textile district. The property balances a quiet living environment and the pulsating flair of the city centre while surrounded by well-maintained streets, parks, and fin-de-siècle architecture.

The Building Transformation

Constructed in 1876, the residential and office building is being modernised while preserving its original facade. The interior features a completely new concept emphasising contemporary living with abundant greenery — a leafy inner courtyard, gardens, planted balconies and loggias. The apartments open generously to outdoor spaces, with French windows, air conditioning (district cooling), external shading, oak parquet flooring, underfloor heating, smart-home control, and a mobile concierge service. Parking spaces are available in the building's own underground car park.

Historical Significance

The Gründerzeit house originally served as a primary school for decades. Among its notable students was writer Stefan Zweig, author of acclaimed works including *The World of Yesterday*, *The Royal Game*, and *Beware of Pity*. Later, the building functioned as an administrative facility for Vienna's municipal government.

Werdertorgasse takes its name from the former Werdertor — a gate in the Babenberg city wall — established in 1864. The street name references „Werd", a Middle High German term designating the Danube river islands that existed before the Vienna Danube Canal's regulation.

Living the Good Life in Vienna

Relax in one of the well-kept parks during the day, shop for new collections in exclusive designer stores at the Tuchlauben, on the Graben or around Kohlmarkt, or simply enjoy a Viennese melange in a traditional café — this is all the Inner City. Werder Six sits in the well-kept residential and business streets of the historic textile district, with the major shopping districts, Stephansplatz, the Albertina, the Staatsoper and the Donaukanal all reachable on foot in minutes.
