THE PROJECT
What do the former address of Hotel Südbahn in Wieden and a hat factory have in common?

They are the centerpiece of a novella. A novella about a beautiful project between Graf-Starhemberg-Gasse and Favoritenstraße, which we have given the name Quartier Starhemberg. At the former address Favoritenstraße 58, the well-known “Hotel Südbahn” was located at the end of the 19th century, and in the green inner courtyard of Quartier Starhemberg, a traditional hat factory stood until 10 years ago. The inspiration of these historic buildings and the love of craftsmanship form the basis for the contemporary realization of our residential project.

Quartier Starhemberg consists of different buildings, each of which has a very special character: The two typical Gründerzeit buildings on Favoritenstraße impress with their beautiful façade, generous ceiling heights and the rooftop terrace apartments, optionally with a pool,  as well as views of the Kahlenberg. While the loft-like section of the old hat factory faces the green inner courtyard, the wing along Graf-Starhemberg-Gasse is complemented by lovingly renovated period apartments with balconies and terraces. This is how Quartier Starhemberg becomes an oasis of well-being in the heart of Vienna.

In addition to the objective value constituted by the quality and functional features of the project, Quartier Starhemberg is also intended to touch people emotionally.

The architects’ vision is to unite the identity of the property with the art of building development, thus giving the quarter an individual personality.

The longing for security, diversity and traditional craftsmanship merges with contemporary living space and good energy.

What is Quartier Starhemberg for Klaus Olbrich
“The basis of the entire design process is the history of the building site. The existing material forms the backbone of all considerations. Thus, some elements are added and others subtracted. Existing qualities are preserved and transformed into a new WHOLE.”

What does authentic mean for Quartier Starhemberg
Quotes – No imitations
Timeless quality – No superficial shine
Contemporary transformation – No replica

The experience of self-evidence is meant to touch people. A new standard emerges.
